MGTO organizes Mini Mart in India to promote tourism


To further capitalize on the Indian Outbound market, Macau Government Tourist Office organized Macau Mini Mart on April 20 in Mumbai and April 22 in New Delhi as a platform for India's leading travel agents and tour operators to network with their counterparts from Macau. Deputy Director of MGTO, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, led a delegation of Macau travel trade members to participate in the Mini Mart to enhance the knowledge of the Indian travel agents on Macau. 11 tourism industry representatives from Able Tours Limited, Banyan Tree Hotel, CAM - Macau International Airport Co. Ltd., Galaxy Macau, Grand Hyatt, Macau, Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Center, Shun Tak- China Travel Ship Management Ltd. (TurboJet), Venetian® Macau-Resort-Hotel, Westin Resort, Macau, in conjunction with MGTO, introduced the latest tourism situation, leisure tourism, convention facilities and tourism products to the participants. Meanwhile, industry representatives of Macau engaged in one-on-one discussions with Indian counterparts. Deputy Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said, “Since 2002, MGTO has stepped up its efforts to attract tourists from India, one of the fastest growing outbound travel markets in the world. Over the years, MGTO has been taking part in various travel fairs and tourism promotional activities. Last year, the Mini Mart held in India achieved fruitful results.” “To actively respond to the demand, we have organized this year's Mini Mart with even more Macau travel trade partners participating. We are glad to see representatives from new tourism products in Macau here to introduce their upcoming hotels and facilities. We will continue to dedicate efforts in developing this market, to increase Macau's exposure and attract more visitors from India,” she added. Macau continues to enthrall Indians with its dynamic background and fusion of cultures. Being visa free for Indians, it is a convenient option for families, who plan a holiday at the spur of a moment. Its huge state-of-art convention centers and facilities make it an ideal destination for business travellers as well. In 2010, Macau received close to 170,000 Indian visitors, representing a significant growth of over 57% compared to 2009.
