Vong Iao Lek

Mr. Vong Iao Lek was born in Macao in September 1966, of a family of Han ethnicity from Heshan in Guangdong Province. He is married with three children and has no religious affiliation. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Higher Institute of Languages and Administration of Lisbon in Portugal in 1994. He then obtained a master’s degree and a PhD degree in education from the Beijing Sport University in 1999 and 2009, respectively.

Starting his career in the Macao Government in 1994, he was appointed the Head of Sport Development Division of Macao Sport Institute. He was the Vice President of Macao Sport Institute and Macao Sport Development Board from 1998 to 2002. From 2002 to 2003, he was the Vice Chairman of the Management Committee of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau. He then became the Acting President of Macao Sport Development Board from 2003 to 2008, and the President from 2008 to 2013. From 2013 to 2014 he served as the Acting Chairman of the Management Committee of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, which he later served as the Chairman from 2014 to 2016.

He was a member of the Macao Grand Prix Committee from 2003 to 2013. From 2008, he is the Vice President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China. He is also the current President of Association of Olympic Committees of Portuguese-speaking Countries and the President of Asiana Sport for All Association, posts he held since 2009 and 2012, respectively.
