President Hu Jintao meets Macao officials

President Hu Jintao today praised the work of Macao officials and thanked them for their efforts in their work. Before attending a welcome reception hosted by the Macao SAR Government, the President met Chief Executive Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah and principal officials, President of the Legislative Assembly, presidents of different levels of courts, Public Prosecutor-General and members of the Executive Council at the Macao East Asian Games Dome in the afternoon. Mr Hu said that the officials had fulfilled their duties diligently and acted in accordance with the Basic Law and other regulations. Their efforts had ensured the implementations of the principles of ‘One country, two systems’, ‘Macao people governing Macao’, and a high degree of autonomy in Macao, he said. Mr Hu mentioned that the new Legislative Assembly was formed not long ago, and the next government will be sworn in tomorrow. He hoped that officials who will remain in their post will continue to work cautiously and diligently, while those who will leave will continue to contribute their efforts to the stability and prosperity of Macao.
