Results of the Gaming Sector Survey 2008


Information from the Statistics and Census Service indicated that Total Receipts and Total Expenditure of the Gaming Sector amounted to MOP 111.17 billion and MOP 57.99 billion, up notably by 30.5% and 29.9% respectively; moreover, Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy also went up by 31.0% to MOP 67.19 billion. However, Gross Fixed Capital Formation fell sharply by 88.3% to MOP 922 million upon conclusion of the construction of major tourism and gaming facilities, as well as suspension of other projects. Total Receipts reached MOP 111.17 billion, of which receipts from Gaming & Related Services such as food & beverages, currency exchange, etc. amounted to MOP 111.01 billion, an increase of 30.6% from 2007; Interest Receipts dropped by 31.3% to MOP 162 million. Total Expenditure amounted to MOP 57.99 billion, with Purchase of Goods & Commission Paid soaring by 37.7% from 2007 to MOP 32.95 billion (56.8% of total); meanwhile, Operating Expenses (MOP 10.88 billion) and Compensation of Employees (MOP 10.74 billion) increased by 11.4% and 23.2% respectively.
