Private sector construction and real estate transactions for the 3rd quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,289 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the third quarter of 2024 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP6.53 billion, down by 18.1% and 29.9% respectively quarter-on-quarter. The average price per square metre of usable area of the overall average price of residential units decreased by 5.6% quarter-on-quarter to MOP86,579. A total of 266 residential units were issued the licence of use.


MICE statistics for the first three quarters of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of MICE events rose by 29.8% (+232) year-on-year to 1,011 in the first three quarters of 2024, corresponding to 94% of the figure in the same period in 2019 (1,075). MICE-driven receipts of the non-gaming industries in Macao were estimated at approximately MOP4.48 billion in the first three quarters, up by 5.4% from the same period in 2023 (MOP4.26 billion).

Tap Siac Craft Market in Autumn inaugurated showcasing and selling cultural and creative products from various regions for two consecutive weeks

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Tap Siac Craft Market in Autumn is held from today to 17 November, and from 21 to 24 November at Tap Siac Square, showcasing and selling cultural and creative products from Macao and Asian regions. A number of music performances and creative handicraft workshops are also held. All are welcome to participate.

IEEE Student Conference on Electric Machines and Systems held at UM

The 7th IEEE Student Conference on Electric Machines and Systems (IEEE SCEMS 2024), jointly organised by the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IOTSC) of the University of Macau (UM) and the University of Macau IEEE Student Branch Industry Applications Society Chapter, was held at UM. The conference aimed to promote academic exchange in the field of electric machines and systems, and to provide participants with opportunities for learning and collaboration.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – October 2024

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (14 November) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP228.7 billion (USD28.56 billion) at the end of October 2024. The reserves decreased by 0.8% from the revised value of MOP230.6 billion (USD28.81 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-October 2024 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 88.9% of pataca M2 at end-September 2024.

Rental statistics for the 3rd quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average rent per square metre of usable area for residential units in Macao was MOP137 in the third quarter of 2024, up by 1.6% quarter-on-quarter. Meanwhile, the average rent for shops dropped by 1.1% to MOP491, mainly due to the relatively low average rent of new leases.
