Cultural Affairs Bureau launches 2025 desk calendar celebrating the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the “Historic Centre of Macao” on the World Heritage List

In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the “Historic Centre of Macao” on the World Heritage List, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) launches the 2025 desk calendar dedicated to the theme “Splendid Timeless Encounters”. The calendar features scenes from the Historic Centre of Macao, all of which were jointly created by local illustrator Yolanda Kog and designer Tramy Lui, reflecting the life of peace and harmony that takes place in heritage buildings over the years. Interested parties can register for the calendar from 5 November.


Direct investment statistics for 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that inward direct investment flows in Macao SAR totalled MOP 13.07 billion in 2023, down by 57.2% year-on-year. The decrease resulted from the incorporation of large financial companies as well as a substantial increase in the capital of gaming enterprises in preparation for the tender for concession agreement on operating games of chance in casinos in 2022. Inward direct investment income amounted to MOP 51.04 billion in 2023, returning to 63.4% of the corresponding level in 2019. As at the end of 2023, stock of inward direct investment totalled MOP 383.12 billion, up by 4.2% year-on-year.



Mr Sam Hou Fai to visit Beijing for official appointment as Chief Executive

The Chief Executive-elect, Mr Sam Hou Fai, will visit Beijing from 31 October to 2 November to receive the Order of the State Council confirming the official appointment as the six-term Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.


UTM student team won awards at the 2nd Asian Cultural Heritage Youth Forum

The 2nd Asian Cultural Heritage Youth Forum was held in Kuching, Malaysia from 1 to 2 October. The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) student team won the “Best Proposal in Technology Innovation” with their outstanding performance.


Cultural Affairs Bureau publishes Chinese edition of The Making of Macau’s Fusion Cuisine

In order to promote and disseminate Macanese gastronomy, an item of local intangible cultural heritage, the Cultural Affairs Bureau published the Chinese edition of The Making of Macau’s Fusion Cuisine: From Family Table to World Stage, in order to make more readers aware of the current status of Macanese gastronomy and its influence and history of dissemination throughout Asia.


Results of transport, storage & communications survey 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 3,073 establishments operating in the Transport, Storage & Communications Sector in 2023, a decrease of 220 year-on-year; meanwhile, total number of persons engaged went up by 2,100 to 21,079. Receipts and expenditure of the sector amounted to MOP27.43 billion and MOP21.8 billion respectively, up by 62.9% and 43.7% year-on-year. Gross Surplus totalled MOP5.62 billion, an uplift of 237% year-on-year. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy surged by 77.1% year-on-year to MOP10.9 billion.


Christmas card of CTT for sale

Christmas is approaching and it is a season of celebration. CTT will launch a new design of Christmas card on 5th November 2024, which can be purchased at the General Post Office and all post offices for the public to send warm wishes to their relatives and friends.
