Government thanks general public, civil service for their concerted efforts in post-typhoon clean up and recovery

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, issued a statement today expressing his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Government to all Macao residents for their concerted efforts in helping those affected by Typhoon Hato and in cleaning up from the streets the waste and debris resulting from the typhoon.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in August on 28 August for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets at Lam Mau, Patane and San Kio areas in Santo António Parish.


Update of requests for assistance received from tourists affected by the typhoons

As of 12:00 today (August 28th), the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received a total of 20 requests for assistance from Macao residents due to return flight cancellations caused by the "Hato" and “Pakhar” typhoons.Out of the 141 residents involved, 138 have already returned while the remaining 3 are scheduled to return this evening from Bangkok.


Employment survey for May-July 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (2.0%) and the underemployment rate (0.4%) for May-July 2017 remained stable as in the previous period (April-June 2017). With fresh graduates entering the labour market, number of the unemployed searching for their first job registered increase, and the unemployment rate of local residents rose slightly by 0.1 percentage point from the previous period to 2.8%.


Concerted effort help Macao progressively recover from storms

With concerted effort from across the community, Macao is progressively recovering from the impact of the two storms that affected the city in the course of five days.


MGTO continuously coordinates and tackles various tasks in the aftermath of the typhoon

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is making unreserved efforts to coordinate and handle various tasks in the wake of the typhoon.


Update of requests for assistance received from tourists affected by the typhoons

As of 15:00 today (August 27th), the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received a total of 20 requests for assistance from Macao residents due to return flight cancellations caused by the "Hato" and “Pakhar” typhoons. Out of the 141 residents involved, 112 have already returned while 29 will return this afternoon and tomorrow. The details are as follows:

All-out effort to safeguard public safety during Typhoon Pakhar

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On had – during the period that Typhoon Signal No. 8 was hoisted today for Typhoon Pakhar – ordered the Government to make an all-out effort to protect the safety of the public, with a view in particular to ensuring no secondary damage occurred in areas previously hit by Typhoon Hato.
