2024 Macao International Parade Special traffic measures and instructions for the public

The ‘2024 Macao International Parade’, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and co-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM Macau, Sands China Ltd., SJM Resorts, S.A. e Wynn Resorts Limited, will be held on 24 March (Sunday) in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland. To facilitate the public’s engagement and enjoyment, the organiser is announcing several arrangements including special traffic measures and admission guidelines for the public.


Community Art Programme and Street Art Carnival enhance the Parade with lively vibes

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and co-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM Macau, Sands China Ltd., SJM Resorts, S.A. e Wynn Resorts Limited, the “2024 Macao International Parade”, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, will be held on 24 March. In order to encourage active participation from residents and tourists, 64 local groups and around 20 performing groups from different countries and regions will present a wide array of performances in the community from 17 to 23 March.


Tickets to ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2024 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group to go on sale starting 22 March

The ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2024 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group and World Table Tennis Management Group Limited (WTMG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, will be held at the Galaxy Arena from 15 to 21 April. Tickets to the event will go on sale starting 22 March.


【Promote courtesy and quality enhancement】QTSAS calls for applications from catering businesses and travel agencies from 25 March

The Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (“QTSAS” or “the Scheme”) of 2024 now welcomes applications from the catering and travel agency sectors from 25 March to 16 April. A presentation seminar was organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) today (19 March) to call for new applications and encourage accredited merchants to keep on their participation and pursuit of excellent service quality. In tandem with the Macao Courtesy Campaign, a special session was held for award winners to share their remarkable experience and advocate for courtesy towards visitors. It is hoped that the synergy of the Scheme and Campaign can enhance industry operators’ concerted contribution to Macao in becoming a hospitable and top-notch destination that thrives towards sustainable tourism development.


UM organises campus life experience camp for secondary students

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) organised a two-day, one-night camp for students in the Principals’ Recommended Admission Scheme. More than ten form six students who have been accepted into FHS’s undergraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year through the scheme were invited to join the camp. Under the guidance of the faculty members, the students experienced campus life and participated in hands-on experiments in laboratories.


【Promoting 1+4 Scientific Research and Innovation】Science and Technology Development Fund Held Briefing on Project Funding Schemes

To help the funding recipients better understand the funding schemes granted by the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) (referred to as the FDCT) for the year 2024, the FDCT held a “Briefing on Project Funding Schemes” on 19 March. The meeting was chaired by President Che Weng Keong from the Administrative Committee of the FDCT. Approximately 300 representatives of the science and technology sector participated in the briefing. They are members respectively from local universities, scientific and technological associations, as well as technology enterprises in Macao.


[Developing 1+4 Industries’ Business Platform] Brand Enterprise Is Optimistic about Macao’s Business Environment and Has Invested in Macao to Boost “Benchmark Effect”

Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has launched the Investor’s “One-stop Service” to assist local and foreign enterprises in implementing their investment projects, in order to contribute to the appropriately diversified development of Macao’s economy. From December 2019 to the end of February 2024, the Investor’s “One-stop Service” received 1,211 new investment proposals, of which 862 were assisted. According to the investors, the assisted investment proposals created 3,100 jobs and involved cumulative investments amounting to MOP 3.6 billion.


[Macao-Hengqin “1+4” Industrial Synergy] A Delegation of Economic Development Council Visited the Co-operation Zone to Learn Industrial Operations after the Commencement of Closed Customs Operation

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation of about 20 members from the Task Groups Regarding Research on MICE, Trade, Culture and Sports Industrial Development Policy, subordinate to the Economic Development Council, to visit the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin (“Co-operation Zone”) on 14 March 2024 to gain an understanding of the latest industrial operations on-site after the implementation of closed customs operation in the Co-operation Zone. The delegation also visited a number of Macao-funded enterprises, hotels, convention and exhibition projects, and cross-border e-commerce companies, and held an exchange session with representatives of the government departments from the Co-operation Zone.


Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for January 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments and retailers showed a year-on-year decrease in January 2024 due to a high comparison base in the same month last year when the Lunar New Year, the period when business is usually brisk, took place. Receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments went down by 10.2% year-on-year, with receipts of Japanese & Korean Restaurants and Chinese Restaurants dropping by 30.6% and 21.7% respectively; by contrast, receipts of Local Style Cafes, Congee & Noodle Shops rose by 12.9%. Meanwhile, sales of the interviewed retailers fell by 29.3% year-on-year in January; sales of Adults' Clothing Retailers, Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers and Department Stores declined by 36.8%, 34.2% and 30.6% respectively, while sales of Motor Vehicle Retailers grew by 37.3%.
