[Tourism + MICE Encounter in Macao] 20 Macao Enterprises Organised by IPIM to Showcase Macao-Hengqin MICE Resources at MITE

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has set up an exhibition zone at the 12th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) held from 26 to 28 April, a major event that brings together a great number of domestic and overseas tourism operators and businessmen to Macao. At the venue, 20 Macao enterprises organised by IPIM will exhibit and sell signature products from Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao. To give more exposure to Macao’s MICE sector advantages. IPIM will hold the “Macao-Hengqin Promotion Seminar”, coupled with information exhibition, to showcase the MICE resources of these two regions and the “Multi-venue Event” pattern to potential clients. In line with the “One-stop Service” for MICE Bidding and Support, IPIM has been striving to attract more conventions and exhibitions to be held in Macao and to make good use of various platforms to explore new opportunities.


IAM steps up environmental hygiene efforts for “Labour Day Golden Week”

In view of the approaching “Labour Day Golden Week” of the Mainland, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has planned its environmental hygiene work in advance to strengthen the cleaning of public places, reinforce the management of public toilets and increase the frequency of hygiene inspections, so as to ensure the overall environmental hygiene and tidiness of the city.





【Largest scale since inaugural edition】12th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo is grandly unveiled to ignite potential of business opportunities in tourism

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, the 12th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) is grandly unveiled today (26 April). Under the theme of “Meet at MITE: Discovery, Networking, Interaction!”, MITE features seven major highlights and is held on the largest scale since the inaugural edition, gathering tourism and related industry participants from near and far in Macao to foster exchange and cooperation, explore business opportunities, expand businesses and progress toward sustainability.



Consumer price index (CPI) for March 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for March 2024 grew by 1.09% year-on-year. Among the various sections of goods and services, the price indices of Recreation & Culture (+5.27%) and Education (+5.05%) saw notable year-on-year growth, on account of rising charges for package tours, dearer hotel room rates, and higher university tuition fees. In addition, price index of Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+1.78%) increased attributable to higher charges for eating out. The price index of Housing & Fuels (+0.22%) registered a rise owing to dearer prices of liquefied petroleum gas, whereas the indices of Transport (-3.31%) and Communication (-0.23%) declined. The CPI-A and CPI-B recorded respective increases of 1.02% and 1.20% year-on-year.


The civil protection typhoon exercise “Crystal Fish 2024” to take place tomorrow (27th) afternoon

The civil protection structure will hold the civil protection typhoon exercise code-named “Crystal Fish 2024” tomorrow (Saturday, 27 April) from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The exercise aims to enhance the overall effectiveness of disaster prevention and reduction efforts in Macao and prepare for this year’s typhoon season.


Employment survey for the 1st quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (2.1%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.7%) in the first quarter of 2024 decreased by 0.2 percentage points quarter-on-quarter. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate rose slightly by 0.1 percentage point to 1.5%.
