MGTO promotes Macao at the largest Middle East travel trade show to explore new international visitor source markets

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and local travel trade are participating in the Arabian Travel Market 2025, held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from today (28 April) until 1 May, to expand the Middle East market and attract more high-end international visitors.


Leisure Area in Rua Central de T'oi Sán temporarily closed as IAM launches optimisation works

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will launch the optimisation works of Leisure Area in Rua Central de T'oi Sán on 6 May. The leisure area will be reorganised on the theme of “urban oasis” to provide a space for doing leisure activities for the public. The public should take note that the leisure area will be temporarily closed during the construction period.





Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau Urges Citizens to Beware of Fraudulent SMS Messages

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau has recently received reports from citizens about fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the Bureau, regarding abnormalities in their mail or packages delivery. Those messages induced them to enter into a fake website and provide their personal and credit card information. The Post and Telecommunications Bureau clarifies that it will not request citizens’ personal or credit card information through SMS and urges citizens to remain vigilant and always enhance their awareness of fraud prevention.


External merchandise trade statistics for the first quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that external merchandise trade totalled MOP33.82 billion in the first quarter of 2025, down by 4.5% compared to the same period last year (MOP35.42 billion). Total value of merchandise exports grew by 6.1% year-on-year to MOP 3.49 billion, of which value of re-exports (MOP3.15 billion) and domestic exports (MOP345 million) increased by 6.4% and 3.5% respectively. Total value of merchandise imports dropped by 5.6% year-on-year to MOP30.33 billion. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP26.83 billion in the first quarter of 2025, down by MOP2.00 billion from the same quarter last year (MOP28.83 billion).
