Consumer price index (CPI) for September 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for September 2021 (102.81) rose by 0.83% year-on-year, larger than the increase in August (+0.40%) by 0.43 percentage points.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) is committed to beautifying the community with cultural creativity and art installations, spreading arts in every corner of the city. Recently, the art installation featuring Macao Tourism Mascot “Mak Mak”, and the public artwork “Global City” of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021”, were installed in the Taipa Houses, bringing an immersive cultural atmosphere to the entire city as a gallery and an art garden.

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau presents Before the Coffee Gets Cold, an awarded theatrical play brought to the Small Auditorium by a home-grown cast in three shows scheduled for 5-7 November (Friday to Sunday).


“Stay, Dine and See Macao” local tours will resume this Saturday

Owing to the pandemic situation, local tours under the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project were suspended from 25 September to 22 October. As the pandemic situation moves towards stability in Macao, operation of the local tours will resume from this Saturday (23 October) onwards. Interested individuals can sign up for the tours through travel agencies under the project or the special information counters at six local hotels and integrated resorts.


Visitor arrivals for September 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals soared by 53.7% month-on-month to 629,085 in September 2021, attributable to the easing of entry and exit requirements of Macao that took place during most of the month; the figure also represented a growth of 40.1% year-on-year. Numbers of same-day visitors (348,058) and overnight visitors (281,027) rose by 20.2% and 76.1% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.6 day year-on-year to 1.6 days, with that of overnight visitors (3.3 days) extending by 0.6 day whereas that of same-day visitors (0.1 day) remaining unchanged.


DSEDJ announces resumption of classes on October 25

The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) continues to cooperate on the prevention and control of the epidemic. After listening to the opinions of the Health Department, and taking into account the preparation work of each school, if the epidemic continues to stabilize, non-tertiary education schools will resume classes from October 25 onwards, and higher education institutions can also resume face-to-face teaching from the same day. Schools and institutions must strictly implement various epidemic prevention guidelines issued by DSEDJ and the Health Department, thoroughly clean and disinfect the campus before the resumption of classes.


Re-opening and free admission of the Communications Museum

The Communications Museum re-opens on 21/10/2021 (Thursday) and admission to the visitors, local residents and tourists, will be fully exempted.
