UTM Faculty Appointed Expert Lead for WorldSkills 2026 Confectionery/Patisserie Competition

The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) is pleased to announce that Mr. Jeffrey Lao Chak Cheong, lecturer of the Institute of Executive and Professional Development (IEPD) at UTM, has been officially appointed by WorldSkills International as Expert Lead for the Confectionery/Patisserie project at the 48th WorldSkills Competition.

UTM maintains a strong commitment to excellence, providing comprehensive training support for six WorldSkills Competition disciplines: Bakery, Confectionery/Patisserie, Cooking (Western), Hotel Reception, Restaurant Service, and Retail Sales. Mr. Lao brings extensive experience to this role, having served as a Confectionery/Patisserie Expert since the 43rd WorldSkills Competition in 2015. His exceptional guidance has consistently enabled participants to achieve outstanding results. Additionally, Dr. David Charles Wiley Jr., lecturer at UTM, has also been appointed as Chief Expert for the Bakery project at the Competition.

UTM takes great pride in the professional accomplishment of our faculty members and is anticipating exceptional performances from all local participants at the 2026 WorldSkills Competition.

The 48th WorldSkills Competition, jointly organised by WorldSkills International, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, will be held in Shanghai, China for the first time from 22 to 27 September 2026. The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) will lead the Macao delegation to participate in the Competition.
