The Chief Executive was accompanied by the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Ms Ng Wai Han, on this morning’s visit. During the visit, representatives from the companies based at the centre outlined their business development plans and demonstrated their high-tech innovations.
Mr Sam listened to a report from the centre’s director, Mr U Seng Pan, on the results of companies moving into the centre and their operational performance. The Chief Executive also engaged in cordial discussions with a number of business representatives to learn about the achievements of young entrepreneurs and the application of cutting-edge technologies.
During the discussions, Mr Sam said that the Macao International Technology Industry Centre brings together innovative resources, cultivates high-quality enterprises for the Macao Sci-Tech Park, fosters the emergence of an industrial cluster, lays the foundations for the high-quality development of Macao’s science and technology industry, and contributes to the orderly construction of the sci-tech park.
At the same time, the MSAR Government is actively seeking to attract investment, with the aim of leveraging the spillover effects created by leading enterprises, in order to drive the upgrading and transformation of local industries. The MSAR Government is committed to building a comprehensive technology industry ecosystem to provide a solid foundation for the appropriate diversification of Macao’s economy.
In his closing remarks, Mr Sam praised the entrepreneurs’ pioneering spirit, stating that the MSAR Government fully supports the development of enterprises that align with the region’s industrial priorities.
Furthermore, to address talent shortages, the MSAR Government is actively attracting professionals from around the world through Macao’s Talent Recruitment System. The MSAR Government will continue to provide a platform for development, in the hope that entrepreneurs and the talent attracted to Macao will make the most of their strengths, contribute to Macao’s society and industries, and achieve success in their business and personal endeavours.
Representatives from companies already based at the Macao International Technology Industry Centre pointed out that Macao’s advantage lies in the “One country, two systems” principle. They hope to draw on the centre’s support to explore product research, development and commercialisation, as well as to promote their products to Hengqin, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries. This would help the companies expand their global business operations. Talent is the core resource driving the development of high-tech industries. The companies at the centre look forward to strengthening cooperation with higher education institutions in Macao, in order to nurture local professionals. The companies also look forward to promoting the integrated development of industry and talent through collaboration between industry, academia and research.
Also present for today’s visit were the Chief of Office of the Chief Executive's Office, Ms Chan Kak; and the Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Mr Yau Yun Wah.
