This grand artistic feast bridges East and West, blending the essence of classical and modern music on a splendid journey through time and tradition, from European operatic masterpieces to contemporary Chinese melodies. Patrons will be captivated by the meaningful arias from Verdi’s Macbeth, the enchanting “Habanera” from Bizet’s Carmen, and the fervent passion for art and love expressed in Puccini’s Tosca.
The Chinese repertoire of the concert is equally dazzling. It features the classical song The Great River Flows Eastward, composed to Su Shi’s timeless poem, rich in artistic depth; excerpts from the opera Waves After Waves in HonghuLake, which carries the spirit of a bygone era; selections from the new-generation opera YimengMountain; and modern songs such as Ding Feng Bo. The concert will culminate with Verdi’s joyous Libiamo Ne’lieti Calici (The Drinking Song), performed by all participating artists. An evening promising an unforgettable arrival of spring through song.
