Blending the music of two geniuses of the Classicism with the works of a contemporary composer, this orchestral evening is brought by the internationally acclaimed conductor Tan Dun who will lead the China National Symphony Orchestra, in an engaging exploration of music's universal power.
The programme journeys from Beethoven's Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus and Mozart's Double Concerto for Violin and Viola to Tan Dun's own choral concerto Nine, culminating in the uplifting 'Ode to Joy' from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Together, these works illuminate the enduring themes of creativity, spirituality and the shared aspirations that connect humanity across cultures.
Adding a distinctive tone to this international soiree, two acclaimed local musicians – violinist Nina Wong and violist Hoi Yan Lok join forces for Mozart's brilliant double concerto – a thrilling conversation between two soloists and an orchestra. Both artists have built distinguished careers overseas, sharing Macao's artistic spirit at some of the most prestigious venues.
