Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau Urges Citizens to Beware of Fraudulent SMS Messages

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau has recently received reports from citizens about fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the Bureau, which demand a re-verification of SIM card registration for combating telecom fraud, by providing their personal information to a fraudulent website.

CTT hereby clarifies that it will never send SMS messages containing links to websites, nor will it ever request citizens to input personal or credit card information via such links. The public is urged to remain vigilant at all times and be informed about the prevention of scams.

If citizens suspect that they have encountered a scam, please contact the Macao Judiciary Police Anti-Fraud Inquiry Hotline at 8800 7777 or the emergency hotline at 993 for assistance.
