Commencing March 29, 2026, each departing air passenger can carry no more than two power banks in their carry-on baggage, and charging power banks during flights is strictly prohibited.
To comply with the latest requirements announced by the International Civil Aviation Organization regarding the carriage and use of lithium battery power banks by air passengers, the Civil Aviation Authority has instructed Macau International Airport and Air Macau to implement the following measures effective immediately: each departing passenger can carry no more than two power banks in their carry-on baggage, and charging power banks during flights is strictly prohibited. The new requirements are now in effect, further enhancing aviation safety.
The Civil Aviation Authority has been closely monitoring the safe management of passengers carrying power banks and issued a safety notice titled "Carriage of Power Banks/Spare Lithium Batteries as Carry-on Baggage on Board an Aircraft" to Macao’s aviation sector in September 2025 as guidance to improve operational safety.
The Civil Aviation Authority will continue to follow up on the latest developments regarding the International Civil Aviation Organization's safety standards for the transport of dangerous goods and coordinate with industry operators to implement them promptly. Passengers with any queries are advised to contact their respective airlines directly before departure for the latest information.
