Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China to issue RMB 6 billion sovereign bonds in Macao to support the cultivation of bond market


The Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and the Macao Special Administrative (MSAR) Government jointly announced today (10 August) that the Central Government will issue sovereign bonds totalling RMB 6 billion to professional investors in Macao on 20 August 2026.

The MSAR Government welcomes the Central Government’s continued issuance of RMB-denominated sovereign bonds in Macao. It fully demonstrates the importance the Central Government attaches to, and its support for Macao in accelerating the cultivation of bond market, promoting the quality development of the featured financial sector, and fostering the appropriate diversification of the economy. The MSAR Government extends its sincere gratitude to the Central Government for its support.

The continued issuance of sovereign bonds is believed to attract a broader spectrum of high-quality issuers and international investors to participate in Macao’s bond market, better leverage Macao’s advantages and strategic role in the nation’s opening-up, and support Macao in better integrating into and serving the overall national development.
