How to Apply

Time Limit for Application

Formalities and Required Documents

Applications should be made in person at the Marine and Water Bureau, with the submission of the followings:

  1. Application form for pleasure boat driver licence (Format N1/DET); (the form can be obtained from the location for application)
  2. Two 1 1/2-inch recent colour photos with white background showing your full frontal face without any head covering;
  3. Photocopy of identification document (original copy to be presented);
  4. Physical fitness certificate issued by the Health Centre or a Macao-registered doctor (Format N3/DET); (the form can be obtained from the location for application);
  5. Supporting documents of class acquisition;
  6. Persons aged below 18 must possess a notarised written approval from a person eligible to exercise parental rights;
  7. Photocopy of proof of address (such as electricity or water bill).

Documents required to be processed / applied in advance:

  1. Physical fitness certificate issued by the Health Centre or a Macao-registered doctor (Format N3/DET); (the form can be obtained from the locations for application);
  2. Notarised written approval from a person eligible to exercise parental rights.

Charges

Application Fees

Fees charged pursuant to the “General table of fees of the Marine and Water Bureau”.

Stamp Duty

Relevant stamp duty is levied in accordance with the “Stamp Duty Regulations” approved by Decree-Law No. 17/88/M, of 27 June, republished by the Dispatch of the Chief Executive No. 218/2001.

Exemption Conditions:

If the applicant is a public administration worker, the original copy of his/her work declaration form issued by his/her institution has to be presented. Pursuant to the provisions of the “Stamp Duty Regulations” approved by Decree-Law No. 17/88/M, republished by the Dispatch of the Chief Executive No. 218/2001, published in the Official Gazette of Macao SAR, No. 44, Series I, 2nd Supplement, of 29 October 2001, stamp duty is exempted.

Notes:

  • By cash or cheque.
  • When payment is made by cheque, remember to make the cheque payable to “Direcção dos Serviços de Assuntos Marítimos e de Água” and it must comply with Paragraph 3 of Article 5 of No.22/2008 Administrative Regulations, of 4 August, and must be a certified cheque.

Processing Time

Upon submission of all necessary documents, the processing time is 4 working days, excluding the day of application submission. (Performance Pledge)


Notes for Application

  • Applicants applying for a captain’s licence of coastal-going vessel must possess the qualification of a “seaman”.
  • Applicants applying for a captain’s licence of ocean-going vessel must possess the qualification of a captain of coastal-going vessel.
