How to Apply

Time of Application

Family members of Macao Resident Identity Card holders should satisfy the condition of ‘family household’ defined in Term 5, Article 2 of Law No. 16/2021.

Application Procedures and Documents Required

1. Application Approach
   1. The interested person or a legal agent makes the application.
   2. The agent should submit the following:
      1. A certified letter of authorization;
      2. A copy of his/her valid identification document.
2. Documents to be Presented
   1. Unless otherwise noted, the original should be exhibited for authentication if a copy is submitted;
   2. The copy should be authenticated if the original cannot be exhibited.
3. Documents to be Submitted
   1. A completed Application Form for Special Authorization to Stay (format 3) and Declaration of Contact Address and Habitual Residence (DARP/DARP M-1);
      [Note: The forms are available at the subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
   2. Copy of the interested person’s valid identification document or passport/travel document (biodata page and used pages only, as well as Slip of Authorization to Stay granted in last entry to Macao) used for stay in Macao;
   3. Copy of the Macao Resident Identity Card of the sponsoring family member in Macao;
   4. Copy of proof of means of subsistence (e.g. proof of employment of interested person or sponsoring family member in Macao, proof of bank deposit, proof of paid occupation tax/business tax, etc.);
   5. Documentary proof of relationship (meeting the requirements stipulated in Article 14 of Law No. 16/2021 if the document is issued outside the Macao Special Administrative Region), and proof of school attendance in Macao (if any) for minors;
   6. Proof of interested person’s address in Macao (e.g. copy of water, electricity or phone bill issued within the last 3 months);
   7. A 1.5-inch recent colour or black-and-white photo showing full frontal face without head coverings taken against plain white background;
   8. Other documents as required by the Subdivision.

Remark/Points to Note

1. According to Term 1, Article 66 of Law No. 16/2021, to apply for a visa, Authorization to Enter and Stay, Macao SAR Residence Authorization, Renewal or Extension of Residence Authorization means the interested person consents to have his or her personal information, which includes his or her biodata, handled by the Public Security Police Force.
2. According to Article 17 of Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021, Special Authorization to Stay for the purpose of family reunion is valid for a maximum of 2 years. The Authorization can be renewed for the same or a shorter length of time. The expiry date of the Authorization should not exceed the validity of the Macao resident’s identity card.
