Change of date of the concert “Mesmerising Austro-German Music” by the Macao Orchestra

Due to maintenance of the venue, the concert “Mesmerising Austro-German Music” by the Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, 5 January 2019, at 8pm at Dom Pedro V Theatre, has been postponed to Sunday, 27 January 2019, at 8pm. The venue and programme of the performance as well as the ticket prices remain unchanged. Spectators with tickets can enjoy the concert on the new date, 27 January, or may change their tickets at the Macau Ticketing Network outlets from 12 September 2018 to 7 January 2019. We apologize for any inconvenience.


PSP to Set Up Nine Service Locations to Receive Prior Written Notices of Rights to Assembly and Demonstration

Pursuant to the relevant requirements in Law No. 2/93/M (Rights to Assembly and Demonstration) as amended by Law No. 11/2018, persons or entities planning to use public roads, public places or places open to the public to hold assemblies or demonstrations should, starting from 13 September 2018, notify in writing the Commissioner of the Public Security Police Force (PSP) in advance. To this end, the following nine service locations will be set up at the subordinate units of the PSP to receive prior written notices of rights to assembly and demonstration:


UM holds seminar on language documentation methods

The Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre and the Research Centre for Luso-Asian Studies, which are under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH), University of Macau (UM), jointly held a seminar titled ‘Methods of Language Documentation’. During the seminar, Prof Hugo Cardoso from the University of Lisbon explained the basic theory and practices of language documentation.


Results of gaming sector survey 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total receipts of the 10 enterprises engaging in gaming activities increased by 18.7% year-on-year to MOP268.01 billion, marking an end to the downward trend over three consecutive years since 2014. Receipts from Gaming & Related Services grew by 18.7% to MOP267.86 billion, with receipts from gaming (MOP266.54 billion) and food & beverage (MOP567 million) rising by 18.9% and 11.9% respectively. Meanwhile, interest receipts dropped by 10.9% year-on-year to MOP147 million owing to a decrease in deposits.


The acrobatic show Rainbow over the Silk Road celebrating the anniversary of the National Day will be held on 30 September & 1 October

The “Performance to Celebrate the 69th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China”, jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government and the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., in cooperation with the Sports Bureau, specially features the spectacular acrobatic show Rainbow over the Silk Road performed by the Shaanxi Provincial Acrobatic Art Troupe Co. Ltd., allowing residents to enjoy Chinese traditional performing arts and to celebrate the National Day. The show will be held on 30 September and 1 October, at 8pm, at the Macao Forum. Tickets on sale at the Macau Ticketing Network.

Inauguration of Exhibition “Beyond the Scenery: Exhibition Commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the Passing of Wu Li”

Jointly organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Palace Museum, the Shanghai Museum, the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Macao Foundation, and the Macao Daily News, with the support of the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Residência da Companhia de Jesus, the exhibition “Beyond the Scenery: Exhibition Commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the Passing of Wu Li” was inaugurated on 7 September, at 6:30pm, on the 4th floor of MAM, and was officiated by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Wan Sucheng; the Bishop of Diocese de Macau, Stephen Lee Bun Sang; the Deputy Director of the Palace Museum, Zhu Hongwen; the Deputy Director of the Shanghai Museum, Li Zhongmou; the Acting President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the President of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation, Wu Zhiliang; the Acting Chief Editor of Macao Daily News, Choi Chi Tou; the Superior of the Companhia de Jesus SJ, Pe.
