Jointly organised by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the 14^th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) kicks off today (1 June). Focusing on green and low-carbon, digital intelligence-driven development trends, over 3,000 political, business and academic elites from all over the world in the infrastructure sector are brought together to explore topics such as energy and water infrastructure, international co-operation and green transformation, smart rail transit, new energy and new materials, with a view to jointly promote the high-quality development of international infrastructure co-operation.

The 2020 intake students of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme at the University of Macau (UM) successfully held a residential workshop on ‘Leading the Future: Reshaping Entrepreneurship in the Post-Pandemic Era’ in the UK. The overseas workshop was a compulsory course of the DBA programme. Through visits to leading universities and business organisations, such as the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics and Political Science, ARM Global Headquarters, the CBRE Group, Morgan Motor Company, the Cambridge Science Park, and the China-Britain Business Council, the students had the opportunity to interact with well-known scholars and business leaders to learn about the latest theories and practices of business management. One highlight of the workshop was a high table dinner at King’s College of the University of Cambridge, with guests including George Pippas, former councillor and former mayor of Cambridge. The students exchanged views with the guests on the cultural characteristics, traditions, and emerging industries of both China and the UK.

The Macao Polytechnic University Graduation Ceremony for Academic Year 2022/2023 was held at 4:00 pm on May 31st at the university's multi-sport pavilion. The national flag was raised and the national anthem was sung at the graduation ceremony. More than 800 students from doctoral, master's and bachelor's degree programs graduated. At the ceremony, honorary doctoral degrees were awarded to individuals who have made outstanding academic achievements and significant contributions to social and educational development. Ms. Ao Ieong U, representative of the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region and chancellor of University Council, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, expressed that the SAR government will continue to support the university's commitment to the education policy of "dual emphasis on teaching and research", cultivate more outstanding talents for Macao and the country, and create better scientific research results.

The 14^th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) released The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index Report (2023) and the Report on Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Infrastructure Development Index and Macao’s Achievements in Belt and Road Initiative (2023) today (1 June). Macao has fulfilled its function in the construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI), realising the development of the “Five Focuses” and further promoting BRI co-operation.

In order to enrich the cultural tourism and leisure experience of the public and tourists, the Cultural Affairs Bureau plans to set up a featured market in the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards between Fridays and Sundays, as well as on public holidays. The market will be launched at the end of June, and applications for stalls are open from today (1 June) to 7 June. All interested parties are welcome to register and registration is free of charge.

The Steering Committee and the Academic Committee of the Macau Institute for Translational Medicine and Innovation (MITMI) of the University of Macau (UM) recently held their second meeting in Guangzhou and Macao, which combined both online and in-person elements. Experts participating in the meeting comprehensively evaluated MITMI’s recent development, spoke highly of its development direction, and recognised its achievements in regulatory science research.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will roll out the first large-scale promotional event in Asia for an international visitor market after the pandemic – the “Experience Macao, Unlimited” Mega Roadshow in Bangkok, Thailand tomorrow (2 June) for three days in a row. The Office led a delegation of Macao’s travel trade to hold a Thailand – Macao travel trade presentation seminar in advance today (1 June) for their counterparts in Thailand to learn more about Macao’s new elements of “tourism +” and fascinating aspects as a travel destination. Ideas were exchanged to design Macao travel products catering to Thailand visitors, to tap further into the Southeast Asian market.
