Specially designed by the Macao Chinese Orchestra for children aged 5 to 10, the “Little Chinese Music Troupe” Music Camp is a 4-day program (12 hours in total) led by the Water Singers a cappella ensemble. Centered around the classic tale Journey to the West, the camp covers games, role-playing, and interactive ensemble activities to guide children in exploring the wonders of traditional Chinese music through play. Participants will become “little musical warriors” and get to know the four major categories of Chinese musical instruments: wind, bowing, plucking, and percussion instruments, through hands-on experience with the erhu, guzheng, sheng, and various percussion instruments. They will also learn basic musical concepts such as scales, rhythms, and ensemble techniques. The program includes a DIY Mini-instrument Workshop, where children can unleash their creativity by crafting their instruments. On the final day, they will perform at an Achievements Sharing Session, gaining experience in stage etiquette and teamwork. No prior musical training is required. Children can develop their sense of rhythm, listening skills, and self-confidence in a relaxed and interesting environment. There’s even a chance to step outside the Macao Cultural Centre and enjoy a musical tour of Macao’s attractions!
