Drawing from the creations by individual artists, intervention methods, and level of public engagement in the public art section of this year’s Macao International Art Biennale, this discussion panel explores how to establish a resonant and interactive public discourse platform that expands the boundaries of public art. Moving beyond traditional artist roles and rigid, artistic forms in public art, the panel aims to foster a symbiotic, shared, and empathetic ‘intimacy’ between public art and the public, bridging the gap between artists and audiences, artworks and participants. The goal is to cultivate a broad, freshly dynamic, and vibrant new approach to ‘presential’ public art.
