The ecological trail has been in use for many years, and signs of damage have continued to appear
To optimise the walking environment and ensure public safety, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) began the renovation works of the trail from mid-August. The works are divided into phases and involve the replacement of deteriorated structure and raw wood planks of the trail, so as to improve stability and durability of the trail. The overall walking environment and comfort level will also be improved in addition to maintaining the natural scenery of the wetland. The second phase of the works will begin on 8 October.
To reduce the impact on the public and visitors, the renovation works are to be carried out in five phases. The works in the second phase involve renovation of the trail near the ecological pond in the northern side of Avenida da Praia, Taipa. The mentioned section of the trail will be enclosed completely during the works period and reopened after the works are completed. The works period is about 60 days. The actual completion date depends on weather conditions. The remaining works from phases three to five will begin in order next year.
IAM calls on the public to pay attention to the on-site signage and refrain from entering the enclosed area to avoid accidents. IAM appeals to the public for their understanding for the inconvenience caused. The public can call IAM’s Civic Service Hotline 2833 7676 for enquiries.
