Starting from 10 December 2009, eligible Macao Permanent Residents, aged eleven or above, can voluntarily enrol in advance for using the Automated Passenger Clearance System (e-Channel) to enter and exit the Hong Kong SAR with their valid Electronic Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card. At present, over 100,000 Macao Permanent Residents have enrolled for using Hong Kong e-Channel, including 92,000 people registered at the Identification Services Bureau’s self-service kiosks and 12,000 people registered at the enrolment counter of the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
