The 10th China International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) will be held from 15 to 19 of May at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Centre. This year the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government (CAB), coordinating local cultural and creative entities' participation, will once again present the Macao Creative Pavilion through which the CAB aims to showcase Macao as a city of cultural interchange, while promoting its cultural and creative industries. The 240 square meter Macao Creative Pavilion will be set up at stand no.1C13, in Hall 1 of the ICIF venue. The pavilion, this year under the theme "Macao Cultural and Creative Map", offers a vivid and lively illustrated showcase of Macao's cultural and creative characteristics, depicting the city's many festivals and events as well as its residents' daily life. The Macao Cultural and Creative Map, an original work by local illustrator CHAN Wai Lam, features a vivid pictorial and textual presentation of the city's seven parishes' cultural and creative spaces, while also providing information on its World Heritage sites, museums, and bus lines. The 18 creative entities featured in the Map will display and sell their cultural products in the pavilion. In this way, combining a diversity of local elements under one roof, it is possible to create unique cultural walking tours through the whole Macao Creative Pavilion, therefore offering visitors a virtual experience of Macao, allowing them to get a feel of the city's cultural diversity and atmospheric charm, while deepening their actual understanding of Macao's several cultural and creative spaces. Since 2006 and with the full support of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the CAB has been organizing the participation of local entities in this annual fair in Shenzhen. The CAB's objective is to use this platform to jointly promote Macao and its creative brands while strengthening regional cooperation and exchange. Macao's participation in the fair has been well received, thus encouraging and boosting the SAR's cultural and creative industries. The 2014 ICIF will last for five days, with a focus on creative design, press and publishing, film, TV and anime, intangible cultural heritage, calligraphy, painting and art, cultural tourism, cultural technology, and applied art, among other categories.
