Macao offers 100m patacas for Yunnan disaster relief


The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, wrote today to the Central People's Government, stating that the Macao SAR Government will allocate 100 million patacas to support the earthquake disaster relief work in Ludian County, Yunnan. The full text of his letter is as follows: "The strong earthquake that occurred in Ludian County, Zhaotong, Yunnan on 3 August 2014 touched the hearts of people all over the nation. All concerned central government departments are actively undertaking rescue and disaster relief actions, while Chinese people from all regions of China are offering their helping hands to express their familial love for their compatriots who have become victims. "In the Macao Special Administrative Region, the disastrous earthquake also receives high concern from the people of Macao. 'As the saying goes, "Help comes from all quarters when a disaster strikes", and the Macao SAR Government has decided to donate 100 million patacas with the hope of contributing to the earthquake disaster relief work in Ludian County, Yunnan, and expressing love for compatriots in Yunnan. 'The Macao SAR Government will remain concerned regarding the progress of the relief work, and will offer manpower and material support as needed. It will also fully support the disaster relief activities involving members of the public and community groups in Macao.'
