A cultural troupe from Ximeng Wa Autonomous County, Yunnan, brings us a lively introduction to Wa ethnic dance.
Starting from basic movements, the workshop draws on the pulse of the wooden drum and the distinctive rhythm of hair-swinging gestures, guiding participants step by step into the energy and vitality of an enduring tradition.
No prior dance experience is required – drop in and join the movement.
Instructors:
Nie Shuangchu
Dance instructor of the Ximeng County Ethnic Cultural Work Team. He has represented the troupe in the Qunxing Award national competition, having achieved outstanding results. With extensive experience in grassroots arts and children’s dance training, he specialises in teaching Wa dance.
Zhou Lifang
Wa dance choreographer at the Ximeng County Ethnic Cultural Team and lead creator of A Wa People Sing New Songs for the county’s 60th anniversary celebration. She has long been engaged in community arts training, bringing extensive experience in both performance and teaching of Wa dance.
Remarks:
1.Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing and trainers;
2.Participants are recommended to bring their own drinking water.
