The Macao Chinese Orchestra has introduced the "Little Chinese Music Warriors" Music Camp, specially designed for children aged 5 to 10. This 4-day program (12 hours in total) is led by the Water Singers a cappella ensemble. Themed around Journey to the West, the camp invites children to become "little Chinese music warriors.", the camp guides children in exploring the four Chinese musical instrument families: winds, bowed strings, plucked strings, and percussion instruments through games, role-play and interactive ensemble activities. Starting with the fundamentals, the camp allows children to gain a hands-on experience with the playing techniques of the erhu, guzheng, sheng, and various percussion instruments and learn basic musical concepts such as scales, rhythms, and ensemble techniques, giving them a chance to fully appreciate the unique charm of traditional music Moreover, the camp includesa creative DIY workshop designed to spark children's imagination and potential through hands-on activities. An Achievements Sharing Session will be held on the final day of the camp, allowing children to learn the stage etiquette and teamwork spirit through a real performance. With no musical background needed, the camp is open to all children, helping participants develop their sense of rhythm, listening skills, and self-confidence in a relaxed and interesting environment.
