7 May deadline for CE Election Committee candidature application

A meeting of the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election.

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election has issued a reminder that the deadline for individuals interested in becoming a candidate for one of the available places on the Chief Executive Election Committee, is 6pm on 7 May (Tuesday).

For the convenience of those interested in taking part in the Chief Executive Election Committee polling, the Commission will operate an enquiry counter on the ground floor of the Public Administration Building from 9am to 6pm during the weekend of 4 to 5 May.

The Commission’s President, Ms Song Man Lei, gave the information to reporters after a Commission meeting today.

As of 11am today, the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau had received a total of 192 Chief Executive Election Committee candidature applications.

By the Tuesday deadline, legal-person voters (i.e. registered associations with voting power for the Chief Executive Election Committee) should submit their respective list of voters, i.e., those eligible to cast – on behalf of legal-person voters – ballots in the June polling.

Today’s meeting also confirmed the design for the ballot papers to be used in the Chief Executive Election Committee polling, which will take place on 16 June.
