Tour Macao FUN Fair draws visitors into communities for economic revival  “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Market debuts at Taipa Houses

Jointly organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and local community organizations,the series of activities entitled “Tour Macao FUN Fair” are unfolding to foster diversification of tourism products and attract visitors into different local communities for sightseeing and spending. The activity series aim to enrich the spectrum of travel experiences, steer community tourism and economy forward, as well as deepen cross-sector integration of “tourism +”. As the debut activity of the “Tour Macao FUN Fair” series, the “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Themed Market is enlivening the Taipa Houses every Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 28 November to draw visitors into the community for sightseeing and spending.

The Tour Macao FUN Fair — “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Themed Market was inaugurated at the Taipa Houses today (6 November). MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, President of the Administrative Committee of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Lau Wai Meng, Head of Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ho Hong Pan, Head of Business Promotion Division of Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Lau Kit Lon, and President of the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macao, Yeong Keng Hoi, officiated the inaugural ceremony.

Senna Fernandes remarked that MGTO and local community organizations join hands to roll out the series of activities entitled “Tour Macao FUN Fair” that bring together elements of “tourism +” to lead residents and visitors into different local communities for exploration and spending, enrich the offer of travel experiences and generate a greater flow of people in various districts. The activity series are set not only to foster community tourism and economy, but also benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the districts. She hopes that the upcoming array of mega events will radiate synergistic effects and attract more visitors to explore local districts in depth, injecting a fresh impetus into the community economy.

The “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Themed Market lines up over 20 stalls run by SMEs from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday from 6 – 28 November. Spectators can also enjoy cultural and artistic performances, creative workshops and interactive games as part of the full-filled program at the Themed Market. SMEs are offered an opportunity to promote Macao’s distinctive products at the Market radiant with the city’s island aroma and enchanting cultural symphony of the East and West.

Spotlight Distinctive Shops, products of Portuguese-speaking countries and culture & creativity

The Tour Macao FUN Fair offers a series of colorful activities imbued with a confluence of tourism, trade and commerce, culture and creativity, set to promote Macao’s Distinctive Shops, products from Portuguese-speaking countries as well as cultural and creative products, deepen cross-sector integration of “tourism+”, raise the vitality of local communities and stimulate their economy.

The Tour Macao FUN Fair — “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Themed Market is organized by the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macao, jointly organized by Macao Government Tourism Office, and co-organized byEconomic and Technological Development Bureau, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the Supporting Office to the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries as well as Cultural Affairs Bureau.

Tour Macao FUN Fair continues in December at front square of Macao Science Center

Following the Themed Market, another activity of theTour Macao FUN Fair series, organized by Macao Borderless Youth Association, will liven up the front square of Macao Science Center with wonderful highlights in December.

MGTO launched the specialized subsidy program of 2022 for “Development of community tourism and economy” earlier to offer ongoing active support for local community organizations to unfold various tourism activities and projects which capitalize on the culture, history and tourism resources of local communities, in tandem with the city’s signature tourism events, to enrich the diversity of community travel experiences.

To safeguard public health and safety, entrance and exit are set up for the designated area of the Themed Market held in strict compliance with pandemic prevention measures issued by Health Bureau. Individuals are required to present valid Macao Health Code in green color and have their temperature checked upon admission, as well as to wear mask and maintain one-meter social distance. The organizer will pay close attention to the pandemic situation and rigorously follow the pertinent guidelines issued by Health Bureau to make corresponding arrangements promptly.
