Survey on manpower needs and wages for the second quarter of 2026


Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of persons engaged in the Transport, Storage & Communications sector (16,436) and Security Activities (13,590) increased by 11.4% and 2.9% respectively year-on-year at the end of the second quarter of 2026, while number of those in Wholesale & Retail Trade (65,803), the Gaming sector (52,992) and Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities (909) decreased by 1.6%, 0.3% and 2.3% respectively.

In June, average earnings (excluding irregular remuneration) of full-time employees in Wholesale & Retail Trade and the Gaming sector were MOP14,860 and MOP28,660 respectively, while average earnings of those in the Transport, Storage & Communications sector, Security Activities and Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities stood at MOP21,760, MOP13,680 and MOP20,990 respectively.

In the second quarter, the employee recruitment rates for Wholesale & Retail Trade and the Gaming sector were 2.9% and 1.1% respectively, while the rates for the Transport, Storage & Communications sector, Security Activities and Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities were 4.4%, 6.3% and 3.9% respectively.

The Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the second quarter of 2026 covers Wholesale & Retail Trade; the Gaming sector; Transport, Storage & Communications; Security Activities; and Public Sewage & Refuse Disposal Activities. However, the elf-employed, junket promoters and junket associates are excluded. Meanwhile, employees include resident and non-resident employees living in or outside the Macao Special Administrative Region.
