Bocuse d'Or Asia-Pacific 2026 will be staged in Macao for the first time in November

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Organizing Committee of the Bocuse d’Or announced today (September 25) that the Bocuse d’Or, the premier international culinary competition celebrated as the “Olympics of gastronomy”, will run its Asia-Pacific selection in Macao on 1 and 2 November 2026. Coordinated by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Bocuse d'Or Asia-Pacific 2026 will mark the return of this globally-prestigious event to the Asia-Pacific region since 2018, which symbolizes a new milestone for Macao in delivering international influence as a Creative City of Gastronomy.

Glamorous international event sets off destination appeal for high-end travelers

Following Macao’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2017, MGTO has been advancing preservation and exchange of gastronomic culture through a variety of initiatives. With the Bocuse d'Or Asia-Pacific coming to Macao, top chefs and culinary professionals from worldwide can taste the unique charm of the metropolis as a Creative City of Gastronomy. The event will bring onto the global stage Macao’s tapestry of gastronomic culture and raise its international prestige as a Creative City of Gastronomy, while a window of opportunity is unveiled for local catering professionals to witness the world’s top culinary event.

As the third continental selection in the competition to the Grand Final, Bocuse d'Or Asia-Pacific 2026 will bring together eight outstanding teams in Macao this November. Contestant teams will compete through two days of culinary challenges for the honored places onto the final stage. Winners from various continental selections will meet in the Grand Final, to take place at Sirha Lyon – an international trade fair for the catering and hospitality industry – in January 2027.

Founded in 1987, the Bocuse d'Or is a biennial global chef championship acclaimed for the professional excellence of entry dishes and the rigorous system of the competition. Over a two-year period, contestant teams compete across national and continental selections before entering the global Grand Final. It is hailed as the most challenging and spectacular cooking competition in the world.

Hosting for the first time the Asia-Pacific selection of the Bocuse d'Or, Macao has the valuable opportunity to be part of this globally prestigious cooking competition, which bespeaks international recognition for the capabilities of the Macao’s MICE and catering industries. The event will spur concerted progress in tourism and gastronomy, enrich the city’s vibrant scene as a world centre of tourism and leisure and attract high-end travelers and international professionals, in turn fostering advanced tourism development in Macao.
