The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, meets members of the public in celebrating the joy of the Government Headquarters Open Day 2026.
The Government Headquarters Open Day event is being held over two days, starting today (10 October). The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, visited the venue this afternoon, greeting members of the public and tourists taking part in the initiative, interacting with them and posing for photographs, as he joined in the festivities and shared a pleasant time with them.
Mr Sam arrived at the rear garden of the Protocol Palace at 3pm, where he exchanged greetings with visitors and welcomed them to the annual Open Day event.
The theme of this year’s special flower exhibition is “Nature in Harmony – A Harmonious Macao”, featuring a rich array of colourful flowers and butterfly-attracting plants, complemented by distinctive installations to create a scene teeming with blossoms and fluttering butterflies.
Mr Sam paused at various spots in the rear garden and front courtyard of the Protocol Palace, where he joined visitors in admiring the floral displays, posed for photographs and engaged in casual conversation, creating a lively and convivial atmosphere.
The Chief Executive then entered the Protocol Palace and made his way to the Multi-purpose Room to tour this year’s special exhibition, focused on the Third Five-Year Plan of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR). There, he engaged in friendly conversation with members of the public who were viewing the display and listened to their hopes for Macao’s development.
Still inside the Protocol Palace, Mr Sam interacted with members of the public and posed for photographs. He also chatted with young parents and children, sharing in the joy of family life and exchanging experiences on raising children.
Mr Sam thanked members of the public and visitors for their participation in the Open Day event. He said that the MSAR Government attaches great importance to fostering good relations with the public through a variety of means. This includes the Government Headquarters regularly opening its doors to the public, providing a valuable platform for engagement. The Open Day event also gives visitors an opportunity to see key venues where official events are held, thereby deepening their understanding of the Government’s work. This helps to foster mutual understanding and strengthen ties between the Government and the public.
Some residents visiting the Government Headquarters said they attended the Open Day event every year to enjoy the themed flower exhibitions. This year, they added, they were also able to learn about the key points of Macao’s Third Five-Year Plan, making the visit even more rewarding.
A visitor described the Protocol Palace as a beautiful and distinctive building, saying it was well worth a visit. Other tourists added that meeting the Chief Executive, whom they found to be very approachable, and having their photograph taken with him was the most memorable experience of their visit to Macao.
