PATA Chairman Shares Insights on the Future of Tourism at UTM

The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) welcomed a delegation from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to its Taipa Campus on 15 October for a sharing session and campus visit. The delegation was led by Mr. Henry Oh, Chairman of PATA.

During the event, Mr. Oh delivered a keynote sharing session entitled PATA and the Future of the Travel & Tourism Industry for UTM students and faculty members. He shared insights into emerging trends shaping the global tourism landscape and highlighted the importance of sustainability, innovation, industry collaboration and talent development in driving the future growth of the tourism sector.

The session provided participants with a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of international tourism development trends and market dynamics, further broadening their global perspective and professional knowledge.

Following the sharing session, the PATA delegation toured various teaching and learning facilities at UTM. The visit enabled the guests to gain a better understanding of the University's commitment to integrating academic excellence with industry-oriented education and professional training. Other members include: Mr. Andrew Jones, Chairman of PATA Foundation; and Ms. Carolina Xu, Senior Manager – Membership Relations of PATA.

As a leading higher education institution specialising in culture and tourism, UTM places great importance on building partnerships with international organisations and industry stakeholders. Through exchanges with organisations such as PATA, the University continues to strengthen its international network, promote knowledge exchange, nurture tourism professionals with international competitiveness, and contribute to the sustainable development of tourism both regionally and internationally.
