Government paying close attention to Diaoyu Islands detentions

The Government Spokesman Office today released a statement over the incident of activists detained by Japanese coastguard personnel when they landed yesterday on one of the Diaoyu Islands. The Macao SAR Government was paying close attention to the development of relevant issues, the statement said. It said the Government would fully support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in asking Japan to refrain from taking any action that could endanger the lives and properties of Chinese citizens going to the Diaoyu Islands.
