
On second day of the Macao Franchise Expo 2012 (2012MFE) opened to the general public. Overall turnout was significantly high as trade visitors and the public were incessantly admitted to the venue. A total of 632 business matching sessions were arranged, which resulted in the signing of 9 cooperation protocols.
Gimmicks to improve brand awareness On the second day, the MFE has attracted large number of visitors, including a delegation comprised of experts and entrepreneurs from the countries and regions in South and Northeast Asia, and an incessant stream of local individuals. At the exhibition venue, some exhibitors have devised ingenious schemes to attract attention, for instance, one of the exhibitors adorned with its own lovely cartoon characters for leaflet delivery. Attracted by cutely designed cartoon character, a lot of visitors are stationed in front of the booth for photo taking. Setting its booth in the centre of the hall entrance, Macao Ideas, a product display centre launched by Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) shows a substantial number of locally designed and manufactured products, including fashion fashions, creative products, furnishings and household items. The display centre has been committed to facilitating procurement and agency agreement at home and abroad, as a means to create business opportunities for Macao products to "going global". During the event, Macau Ideas has taken this opportunity to launch its second edition of electronic magazine. The online version aims to reach more potential clients overseas and provide the most updated and diversified information of business opportunities to the local industry.
Increased professionalism With the theme of "From Building your Own Brand to Managing Chain Store Operations", the forum invited six speakers, including spokesperson of Taiwan associations, scholars from business and financial sectors, and leaders and elites of the industry, to look at various aspects of franchise business and further elaborate the problems and challenges they encountered. Participants could be inspired by a comprehensive in-depth discussion over the opportunities, challenges and future trend of the industries to explore the keys to success in the franchising operations. During the event, a number of seminars and presentations have been held to present exhibiting branded products and services.Such includes topic of "Legal Guidelines of Pioneering Franchising Operation in China" ,which introduced the franchising laws, policies and regulations, franchise system design and maintenance of franchisee relationship in Mainland China. A number of local and foreign corporate representatives arise were eager to ask questions to gear up for their business expansion in Mainland in the future.
Besides, Japanese Franchise Association was impressed with the international scale and professionalism of the event, and thus invited the organizer to form a Macao delegation to Japan to participate in their franchise exhibition in next year.
Since the thresholds of some franchise royalties of 2012MFE exhibitors are not high, this encourages more local young talents starting a business and SMEs transformation. Free food and beverage tasting particularly popular Aiming to create a lively atmosphere, the Organizers have especially devised MFE square, a food and beverage tasting area where the floor is cosily decorated with Portuguese pavement. Some of the food and beverage exhibitors offered free tasting, which received enthusiastic response from the visitors. Besides, a multi-functional area was set-up for a "Bridal Catwalk Show". Models wearing elegant bridal gowns designed and made in Macao paraded in front of the public, which attracted many visitors to stand still for photo taking.

632 business matching sessions were arranged for the second day of the 2012MFE, resulting in the signing of nine cooperation protocols, as follows: Franchise agreement on Introducing Taiwanese Baking Technique, Agent of Central Air-Conditioning Accessory, Agreement on Establishment of Meet Fresh Franchise Store, Agreement on Establishment of Muse Fashion and Letter of intention of Sales Agents f Egg Tart. The signing parties range from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico and Macao.
