City beautification and sanitation working group holds beach cleaning activity at Hac Sá Beach today

The environmental hygiene task force under the city beautification and sanitation working group holds the “Beautiful and Clean Beach - Take Your Trash with You” activity at Hac Sá Beach today (12 July) with the participation of representatives from the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), Marine and Water Bureau, Health Bureau, Macao Customs Service, Environmental Protection Bureau, Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs, community consultative committees of three districts, trainees of “Jovens Protectores do Original” training programme of the Macao Customs Service, and representatives from Macau Residue System Company, Ltd. and other departments, organisations and institutions, aiming to raise public awareness on the hygiene of beach environments through actions.

About 80 representatives from various departments, organisations and institutions brought children to collect trash at Hac Sá Beach and classify it for recycling through parent-child cooperation, in order to keep the beach clean and reduce pollution to the environment. In addition, several government departments set up game booths at Hac Sá Beach to convey the messages of “take your trash with you”, correct disposal of solid waste, waste reduction and recycling, ocean surface cleanup, and prevention of mosquitoes, so as to enhance participants’ awareness on environmental hygiene through games.

Beaches become popular places for people to go upon the arrival of summer. The working group urges the public to cherish beach environments, use environmentally friendly tableware and containers as much as possible, take away their own trash when leaving the beach, and recycle the trash separately, in order to jointly protect beach environments and reduce the burden on the ocean.

The environmental hygiene task force under the city beautification and sanitation working group will also arrange for representatives from different departments and institutions to clean up trash at Cheoc Van Beach and on the ocean surface next week. Following the city-wide cleaning campaign from April to May, it is hoped to raise public awareness on the hygiene of the community, beaches and ocean surface environments for building a beautiful and clean city together.
