The China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival kicks off creating an interesting contrast with outstanding productions
Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), and co-organised by the Galaxy Entertainment Group, the “China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival”, integrated in the 6th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries”, is held from 22 November to 13 December, presenting nearly 30 film productions in Chinese and Portuguese.

Coloane Market to close mid-December and IAM initiates study on revitalisation and reutilisation
In recent months, there are no vendors operating inside Coloane Market after two vendors of the market returned their stalls to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM). After comprehensive consideration of the development trend of Coloane, the distribution of locations supplying fresh and live food in the area, the service functionality and efficiency of Coloane Market in recent years and the opinions of the Coloane community, IAM initiates a study on revitalisation and reutilisation of Coloane Market to facilitate the overall development of Coloane. Chief Executive Writ of Instruction no. 181/2024 published in the “Official Gazette” today (25 November) no longer includes Coloane Market in the list of municipal markets.

Exchange for four previously issued Zodiac banknotes ending next Friday (6 December)

As scheduled, the exchange period for four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes (including the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac Banknotes) will end on 6 December 2024 (Friday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those registrants who have not yet conducted the note exchange to exchange for their subscribed notes at their previously selected bank during the remaining exchange period.

While continuously conducting theMacao Courtesy Campaign, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched the “Together We Deliver Exceptional Hospitality as Tourism Ambassadors” Training Series in collaboration with MGM this May. A prize-giving ceremony was held at MGM Cotai today (23 November) for the“Youth Hospitality Activities - Macao Tourism Courtesy Short Video Contest” as part of the Training Series. A total of 26 accolades including gold, silver, bronze and merit awards were conferred upon the winners. Through the lens of the youth, the works bring out Macao’s unique glamour and warm hospitality for visitors.

UM holds Ceremony for the Conferment of Higher Degrees
The University of Macau (UM) today (23 November) held the Ceremony for the Conferment of Higher Degrees 2024. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U, acting as the representative of the chief executive of the Macao SAR and chancellor of UM, said that UM is committed to reflecting new trends in international higher education development in its teaching and research activities, and its educational quality has gained international recognition, further highlighting the strength of Macao’s higher education. This year, over 1,900 students graduated from UM with doctoral degrees, master’s degrees, and postgraduate certificates/diplomas.
