How to Apply

Application Procedures and Documents Required

Application at counter (applicants are required to obtain a number tag in advance. For the methods to obtain the tag number, please refer to “Methods to Obtain Tag Number and Appointment” of the website of the Identification Services Bureau.)

The applicant should apply in person at the Identification Service Bureau & Submission and presentation of documents.

  • The original of Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card, or Macao SAR Non-Permanent Resident Identity Card (The original will be returned upon verification);
  • Photograph which meets specific requirements; one recent, color, bareheaded and full-faced photograph in plain white background in 1.5 inches; (Photograph specifications);
  • The original of Visit Permit to HKSAR, in case of renewal;
  • The official report-lost slip (if the applicant cannot submit the original of Visit Permit to HKSAR);
  • Original identification documents of both parents or the legal guardian (will be returned after verification and photocopying) if applicants are under the age of 18. Signatures of both parents or the legal guardian are required on the application form.
    • Remarks 1: If either parent cannot accompany his/her child to apply for the travel document, such parent has to fill out the authorization form (Procuração para tratamento de documentos de viagem da RAEM (1)) and provide a photocopy of a valid identification document which bears his/her signature.
    • Remarks 2: If parents of the applicant are in the state of unmarried, separation, partition of property or divorce, or either parent is unable to sign the application form due to certain reason (e.g. missing), the other parent has to prove his/her entitlement to exercise parental right in order to lodge the application for underage children.
  • Visit Permit to HKSAR is issued on an individual basis, the applicant’s spouse and children should apply for their own document;
  • If the applicant is in Macau, he/she has to lodge the application at the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) in person.

Application via self-service kiosks (Number tag is not required):

Eligible applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

– Aged 18 or above
– Possessing a Macao SAR Resident Identity Card*
– Chinese or Portuguese national

Eligible applicants can use the self-service kiosks to submit:

– first-time application for Visit Permit to HKSAR; or
– renewal application for Visit Permit to HKSAR within 9 months prior to or after the expiry date of the Visit Permit to HKSAR.

* Please note that:

The self-service kiosks are not applicable to applicants under the following conditions. Please obtain a number tag to lodge application at service counters:

  1.  The Macao Resident Identity Card is expired (excluding the identity card which is being renewed).
  2.  An interdicted or quasi-interdicted person.

Required documents:

  1.  The original of Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card, or Macao SAR Non-Permanent Resident Identity Card.
  2.  Photograph which meets specific requirements; one recent, color, bareheaded and full-faced photograph in plain white background in 1.5 inches. (Photograph specifications)

Fees and Payment Methods

Fees:

  • MOP 100.00
  • Applicants who are lack of financial capability due to following conditions can apply for exemption of application fees:
    •  Unemployment
      • Requirements
        1) Applicants have to write and sign a declaration to declare their unemployment status and they acknowledge that they will commit criminal offences for making false declaration.
        2) Submit the Employment Registration issued by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), if any.
    • Poverty
      • 1) The applicant has to write and sign a letter to request for fee exemption;
        2) Submit the original and a photocopy of a valid Beneficiary Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS).
    • Disability
      • 1)  Applicants have to write and sign a declaration to declare their financial incapability;
        2)  Submit the original and a photocopy of a valid Disability Assessment Registration Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS).
        Note: Additional supporting documents may be required for the verification of applicant’s financial incapability verification of DSI, if necessary.

Payment Methods:

Headquarter (China Plaza), Government Services Centre and Government Services Centre in Islands District (Centro de Serviços da RAEM das Ilhas): Cash, credit card, Union Pay “QuickPass”, debit card, Macau Pass and MPay are accepted for payment.

5 working days after the date of submission of all required documents (exclusive of the date of submission).(Performance Pledge)


Remarks/ Notes for Application

Validity

  •  The validity of the “Visit Permit to HKSAR” must not exceed 7 years and the holder has to apply for a new permit after its expiry. The holder can pay multiple visits to the Hong Kong SAR with a valid “Visit Permit to HKSAR”.

Period of Stay

  •  Macao SAR Permanent Residents possessing a “Visit Permit for Residents of Macao SAR to the HKSAR” can enter the HKSAR as visitors and stay for a maximum period of 180 days if the immigration requirements are duly fulfilled.
  •  Macao SAR Non-Permanent Residents possessing a “Visit Permit for Residents of Macao SAR to the HKSAR” can enter the HKSAR as visitors and stay for a maximum period of 30 days if the immigration requirements are duly fulfilled.

Collection Methods of service results:

1.  In person

2.  By authorized person

  • The applicant can endorse the application receipt and sign according to the valid identification document in order to authorize a representative to collect the document on behalf of the applicant (if applicant is under the age of 18, his/her legal representative is the one to endorse the application receipt).
  • The authorized representative should present his/her original valid identification document and the photocopy of applicant’s identification document for verification.

Note:

  1. For details of document collection procedure, please visit electronic document collection process.
  2. Except first-time application and loss of Visit Permit to HKSAR, the applicant has to return the former Visit Permit to HKSAR to the Identification Services Bureau at the time of collecting the new Visit Permit to HKSAR.
