How to process
Deadline for application:
The procedure is required to be processed at the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) at least one working day before the import of goods.

(2)Online application:
Application for customs declaration of food import and advance booking for sanitary inspection can be made via the online “electronic customs declaration service platform” of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT). Declaration documents in paper form are not required to be purchased. For details, please make an enquiry to DSEDT of Macao.

Fees
Application fee:
1. Exemption of application fee.
2. To carry out sanitary inspection, the applicant is required to pay the inspection fee.
3. The inspection fee is determined in accordance to prices list of Municipal Affairs Bureau in force.

Remarks / Important notes on application
Important note:
1. The “number” column of declaration document should be filled in with the number of registration for controlled external trade operations assigned by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau.
2. When making an application for advance booking of import sanitary inspection, the date, location and time of import are required to be confirmed.
3. When the goods arrive in Macao for sanitary inspection, the original of the valid sanitary certificate is required to be produced.
4. When the goods fail to meet the sanitary requirements and release is rejected, the importer is required to bear the fees concerned.
5. The supplementary documents must be submitted before/upon the arrival of the goods, and the procedures concerned can only proceed after submission of all required documents.
6. In case of import of new goods, the importer is advised to consult the sanitary inspection authorities for the relevant requirements in advance.
7. For imports of goods which are not for wholesale purpose, the applicants are required to submit relevant document(s) and make a declaration on the purpose of the imported goods.
8. Applicants are required to complete customs clearance on their own with the photocopy of the import license or declaration form stamped by IAM , and they have to proceed to the inspection location to wait for sanitary inspection at the scheduled time with the photocopy of the import license or declaration form.
9. Applicants must visit IAM to process the procedures concerned one working day before the import of goods.
10. In accordance with Law no. 7/2003 (partly amended by Law no. 3/2016) and Chief Executive Writ of Instruction no. 209/2021, the import license or import declaration form corresponding to different goods is required to be purchased. The form can be purchased at the Printing Bureau.
11. When the products arrived in Macao, the applicant is required to submit their valid sanitary certificate(s).
