“Macao・Creative City of Gastronomy” 2024 work meeting is held yesterday (5 December)

The “Macao・Creative City of Gastronomy” work meeting convened yesterday (5 December). Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) updated attendees on the situation of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). Representatives of governmental entities, educational institutions and businesses were invited to share the related work about Macao’s development as a Creative City of Gastronomy.


MPU and Shanghai University of Sport Signed Agreement to Jointly Nurture Postgraduate Students

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, in line with the implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between universities in Shanghai and Macao in talent cultivation and scientific research, the Rector of MPU, Marcus Im, and the President of the Shanghai University of Sport (SUS), Mao Lijuan, signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities on 5th December to jointly nurture master’s students specialising in intelligent sports and health technology, as well as to cultivate talents for the “big health” and cultural and sports industries in Macao. The signing ceremony was attended by more than hundred teachers and students from the two universities.



UM holds University Experience Day for local secondary school students

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and Stanley Ho East Asia College (SHEAC) of the University of Macau (UM) jointly organised a ‘University Experience Day’ for 30 Form 4 students from Colégio Mateus Ricci in Macao. The event gave the students an insight into campus life at UM and the learning environment and atmosphere of the university.


TIMSS 2023 Results Announced: Macao Primary Four Students Performed Well in Mathematics and Science

Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) is a study of International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), an authoritative academic institution. It aims to assess the learning performance in mathematics and science of students of the participating countries or regions. TIMSS also sends out questionnaires to students, parents, teachers, principals and curriculum experts to collect detailed background information about the school curriculum and its implementation, as well as empirical data on the school education environment. TIMSS has been held every four years since 1995, and 2023 was the first year Macao sent its primary four students to join the study.


[Promoting Macao Products] IPIM and Industrial Association of Macau to Organise 24 Macao SMEs to Participate in the “Asia Pacific Food Expo 2024” in Singapore

To assist Macao’s small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in gaining insights into the global consumer market and capitalising on opportunities in the Halal product sector, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Industrial Association of Macau will set up the Macao Pavilion, for the first time, at the “Asia Pacific Food Expo 2024” from 6 to 9 December. This initiative will involve the participation of 24 Macao SMEs, offering them a platform to engage with approximately 300,000 industry professionals and visitors from all over the world. At the expo, over 250 “Made in Macao” and “Macao Brand” products will be showcased, of which nearly 80% are Halal-certified products or the distinguished “M Brand” quality Macao products. Some exhibitors have also prepared new products for exclusive launch at the event.


Due to the maintenance of the information system of the Public Library some services will be temporarily suspended on 9 December

In order to ensure the proper operation of its information technology, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will carry out maintenance works on the information system of the Public Library from 8am to 11am on 9 December (Monday). During this period, the library services including the library catalogue search system and the electronic resources on the Macao Public Library website, the mobile application “My Library” and the relevant functions of the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau in the “Macao One Account” will be suspended or affected. In addition, the circulation services of the Red Market Library and the 24-hour book drops at all the branch libraries will also be temporarily suspended in the abovementioned period.


Grace period granted for the exchange of four previously issued Zodiac banknotes between 10 December and 19 December

As scheduled, the exchange period for four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes (including the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac Banknotes) will end on 6 December 2024 (Friday). For the convenience of those registrants who have not yet conducted the note exchange, a grace period will be granted between 10 December 2024 and 19 December 2024 to allow for the exchange of their subscribed notes at their previously selected bank.


【Promote courtesy & quality enhancement】 MGTO reveals winning catering businesses and travel agencies of QTSAS 2024

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted the Award Ceremony for the Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme 2024 for catering businesses and travel agencies today (3 December) to commend winning merchants of this year, including new participants or accredited businesses of last year. 312 catering businesses and 44 travel agencies are presented the Quality Tourism Services Merchant Award this year. The awards encourage members of the local trade to provide excellent tourism services and jointly build a stellar and hospitable destination.
