2019 Macao International Parade as a celebration for the entire city Facilitating cultural and artistic exchange with the countries and regions along the initiative “One Belt, One Road”

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “2019 Macao International Parade”, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, will be held on Sunday, 8 December. Extraordinary performing groups from all over the world and local artists will amplify their creativity and present the theme of this year’s Parade on the cultural and artistic characteristics of countries and regions along the initiative “One Belt, One Road”, bringing a festive atmosphere of the Parade as “an annual celebration for the entire city – VIVA!”.



Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 30 June 2019

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 30 June 2019, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP808.3 billion at current market value, representing a rise of 19.5% from end-2018 or 17.2% from end-June 2018. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP269.2 billion, MOP508.9 billion and MOP30.2 billion respectively. As compared with end-2018, equity securities, long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities rose by 17.5%, 18.8% and 57.8% respectively.


Taipa Houses close temporarily to the public from 12pm on Saturday

In conjunction with the activities of 66th Macao Grand Prix, the Taipa Houses, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be temporarily closed to the public from 12pm on Saturday, 16 November, until the end of the same day. The entire area of the Taipa Houses (including Avenida da Praia) will be closed to the public on the designated day and access will be restricted to authorities and authorized vehicles.


Macau Grand Prix motorsport stars are cream of the crop in IFTM gastronomy experience

Drivers and riders from the four headlines races at this year’s Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix showed off their culinary skills at the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) today (November 13th), ahead of the weekend’s big event in the Macau Grand Prix IFTM Gastronomy Experience.




UM members participate in fifth American Society of Civil Engineers – International Student Group Greater China Student Conference

Prof Er Guokang and five students from the University of Macau (UM) Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering recently participated in the fifth American Society of Civil Engineers--International Student Group (ASCE-ISG) Greater China Student Conference, which was held at Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu, China. During the event, UM students exchanged ideas with their counterparts from other universities. The trip broadened the students’ horizons, increased their knowledge in civil engineering, and helped them build friendships with other students.
