7th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo unfolds seven key highlights Exhibition area doubles from last year’s edition MITE delivers impact as a platform
Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association, the 7th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) will be held at Halls D-E, Cotai Expo of the Venetian Macao from 26th to 28th April. The scale of the event is further expanded this year. The exhibition floor is doubled from a total area of 11,000 square meters last year to 22,000 square meters, accommodating 800 standard booths in total, which increased from the number of 550 booths last year. The three-day event will present seven key highlights, which include the “Pavilion in Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region”, fostering tourism partnerships under the Belt and Road Initiative, developing multi-destination itineraries in the Greater Bay Area, highlighting the role as an exchange platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, exploring gastronomy and sustainable development, strengthening interaction and integration of culture and tourism, as well as establishing a pre-scheduled appointment system to facilitate business matching, in order to bring about more productive results and radiate a greater impact as an international travel fair and sales exhibition platform.

FSS Advises Beneficiaries to Regularly Check Their Contribution Records
The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) advises beneficiaries to regularly check their social security contribution records. In particular, employees should regularly confirm that their employers have paid contributions for them on time in order to protect their own rights and interests. In addition, after an employee leaves, he or she should also check whether his or her former employer has stopped making contributions for him or her. Otherwise, such improper contributions may also harm the interests of the employee.

MOU signed between Hong Kong and Korea Consumer Agency for joint co-operation in consumer dispute referral mechanism
The Macao Consumer Council and the Korea Consumer signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Macao on 9 April to strengthen their work regarding consumer protection and for the set-up of joint co-operation to safeguard consumer rights of citizens in both places when traveling in each other’s region.

Consumer Council released 2nd supermarket price survey report of the current month
The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the first-half of April on 8 April for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in São Lázaro, São Lourenço and Sé Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.

The 51st Session of Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues held in Macao
The 51st Session of Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) is held in Macao from April 8 to 13. More than 300 representatives of 49 member countries, 1 member organisation (European Union) and 12 international organisations participate in the session this year. A total of 17 issues and over 360 drafts of maximum residue limits of 33 pesticides in animal and plant products will be reviewed.

Assistant Commissioner Vong Vai Hong of Public Security Police Force (PSP) assumed office as Deputy Commissioner on 8 April. The inauguration ceremony, which was held at the PSP Headquarters in the morning, was officiated by Commissioner Leong Man Cheong and witnessed by the Directorate and heads of various departments.

Residential property price index for December 2018 – February 2019
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for December 2018 - February 2019 decreased by 0.9% over the previous period (November 2018 - January 2019) to 262.9. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (265.3) and Taipa & Coloane (252.4) dropped by 1.0% and 0.9% respectively.
