“Macao Light Festival 2018 – Time Travel in Macao” will unfold glamorously at various locations in Macao from 2 to 31 December. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the event organizer, held a press conference today (12 November) with co-organizers including the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Sports Bureau to unveil the fascinating program. The event is also supported by the Environmental Protection Bureau and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) this year. Held for the fourth year, the Macao Light Festival will feature projection mapping shows created by local and overseas teams, light installations and interactive games besides an array of new highlights such as “Food Truck x Light” and Gastronomy Night Market, a virtual reality game as well as Cultural and Creative Night Market, among others. The route will connect a string of new locations to welcome visitors into various neighborhoods.

Typhoon “Mangkhut” caused Macao an estimated economic loss of MOP 1.55 billion
The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) conducted an estimation of the economic losses of Macao caused by Typhoon “Mangkhut” in September this year. After consolidation of data from various sources, the economic losses caused by Typhoon “Mangkhut” to Macao were estimated at MOP 1.55 billion, including MOP 520 million of direct losses and MOP 1.03 billion of indirect losses.

2018 Macao International Parade holds a number of community workshops and campus activities
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 2018 Macao International Parade in celebration of the 19th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, will be held on 16 December (Sunday). In order to bring a lively atmosphere to local community and campuses, the Organizer invited artists from a number of foreign performing groups to host community workshops and performances in campuses. Interested individuals and schools are welcome to register.

Thematic pack “65th Macao Grand Prix”
To mark the 65th Macao Grand Prix, in addition to issuing the commemorative stamps, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will launch a thematic pack, covering the philatelic products from the 50th, 60th and 65th of Macao Grand Prix, as well as the 50th Macao Motorcycle Grand Prix. This product enriches the collections of philatelists and motor sport enthusiasts.

Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “65th Macao Grand Prix”
To celebrate the 65th Macao Grand Prix, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up behind the Lisboa Stand (Restriction area for ticket entry) and our Philatelic Shop of General Post Office during 17th and 18th November 2018, providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “65th Macao Grand Prix”.

New committee gazetted to advance Greater Bay Area initiative
The Government has gazetted creation of a committee to coordinate Macao’s participation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to an Executive Order published today in the Macao SAR Gazette.
