“Nam Van Lake Craft Market” invites stall operators for registration

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the 2017 Nam Van Lake Craft Market will be held from 1 January to 31 December 2017 on Saturdays and Sundays, from 2pm to 9pm, in Anim’Arte NAM VAN. Registration for Nam Van Lake Craft Market from July to December 2017 is now open until Friday, 16 June 2017, at 5pm. All cultural and creative entities and individuals from Macao, Mainland China and Hong Kong are welcome to register, in order to showcase and sell their original brands and products.


UM holds Congregation 2017 Chui Sai On: UM joins international higher education trend

The University of Macau today (27 May) held the Congregation 2017. UM this year graduated 1,400 students. Chui Sai On, chief executive of Macao SAR and chancellor of UM, attended the ceremony. Chui said at the ceremony that today’s UM attaches importance to introducing high-calibre talent and actively joins the international higher education trend, adding that the university vigorously develops disciplines with potential and spares no effort in curriculum development in order to improve the quality of its education.




UM inaugurates Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre

The University of Macau (UM) today (26 May) held an inauguration ceremony for the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chon Weng said that higher education institutions in Macao have better conditions than any university in mainland China to offer Portuguese language education. He expressed hope that faculty members of UM will work together at the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre in order to nurture high-calibre bilingual professionals for Macao and China.


Inauguration of Exhibition “Constellation – Works by Nicolas Delaroche”

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “Constellation – Works by Nicolas Delaroche”, integrated in the 28thMacao Arts Festival, was inaugurated on Friday, 26 May, at 6:30pm, at Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Leung Hio Ming; the Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Deputy Consul General of Switzerland in Hong Kong, Andreas Rufer; the Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Lei Lai Kio; and the artist Nicolas Delaroche. The exhibition is open to the general public.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in May on 26 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 12 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane area.


MICE statistics for the 1st quarter of 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 366MICE events were held in the first quarter of 2017, consisting of 344 meetings & conferences, 7 exhibitions and 15 incentives. Total number of participants and attendees was 222,000.
