Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the 2017 Nam Van Lake Craft Market will be held from 1 January to 31 December 2017 on Saturdays and Sundays, from 2pm to 9pm, in Anim’Arte NAM VAN. Registration for Nam Van Lake Craft Market from July to December 2017 is now open until Friday, 16 June 2017, at 5pm. All cultural and creative entities and individuals from Macao, Mainland China and Hong Kong are welcome to register, in order to showcase and sell their original brands and products.

The University of Macau today (27 May) held the Congregation 2017. UM this year graduated 1,400 students. Chui Sai On, chief executive of Macao SAR and chancellor of UM, attended the ceremony. Chui said at the ceremony that today’s UM attaches importance to introducing high-calibre talent and actively joins the international higher education trend, adding that the university vigorously develops disciplines with potential and spares no effort in curriculum development in order to improve the quality of its education.

The University of Macau (UM) today (26 May) held an inauguration ceremony for the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chon Weng said that higher education institutions in Macao have better conditions than any university in mainland China to offer Portuguese language education. He expressed hope that faculty members of UM will work together at the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre in order to nurture high-calibre bilingual professionals for Macao and China.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Leung Hio Ming; the Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Deputy Consul General of Switzerland in Hong Kong, Andreas Rufer; the Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Lei Lai Kio; and the artist Nicolas Delaroche. The exhibition is open to the general public.
