The 2017 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2017MIECF) will be held from 30 March to 1 April at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The event is going to be held under the theme “Innovative Green Development for a Sustainable Future”. This year’s edition of MIECF marks the 10-year milestone of the event. With the experience gained over the past editions – as well as to complement the key development guidelines of China’s National 13th Five-Year Plan – this year’s edition introduces additional activities and offerings in order to facilitate co-operation and exchanges between green enterprises from provinces and regions across the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Region, the European Union (EU), the Portuguese-speaking Countries and countries in other parts of the world. Therefore, MIECF continues to fulfil its function as a prominent “Green Platform” at international level.

After negotiations with the Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador in the People’s Republic of China, the Identification Services Bureau has been informed by the Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador in the People’s Republic of China that holders of the Macao SAR Passport are exempted from visa requirement to enter the Republic of Ecuador for a maximum stay of 90 days.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the general unemployment rate for December 2016-February 2017 was 2.0%, and the unemployment rate of local residents was 2.8%; meanwhile, the underemployment rate stood at 0.5%. All three indicators held stable as in the previous period (November 2016-January 2017).

The “Story of Cannon-Making – Children Experience Exhibition”, organised by the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on Friday, 24^th March, at 6pm, in the lobby of the Macao Museum, and was officiated by the Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Lei Lai Kio; the member of the Cultural Consultative Committee, Tong Mui Siu; the Rector of the City University of Macau, Zhang Shu Guang; the Head of the Department of Research and Educational Resources of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Wong Kin Mou; and the Director of the Macao Museum, Loi Chi Pang. The exhibition will be open to the public from 25^th March to 20^th August, on the 3^rd floor of the Macao Museum.

The Cinematheque‧Passion under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be inaugurated on Thursday, 30 March, at 6:45pm. Three short films produced by three Macao directors (Tracy Choi, Chao Koi Wang and António Faria), taking the Cinematheque as theme, will also be screened. An opening activity specially organised for Macao filmmakers will also be held at 8:30pm on the same day after the opening ceremony, starting a new chapter in the Macao film industry.
