Response assessment to tropical cyclone “Yagi”

Due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone “Yagi”, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau issued Typhoon Signal No.8 at 22h00 on 5 September. In response to the natural disaster and to safeguard the life and property of citizens, in accordance with the Chief Executive Dispatch, pursuant to Article 8, Item 1 of Article 9, and Sub-item 7 of Item 1 of Article 11 of Law No. 11/2020 (Civil Protection Law), the Chief Executive declared that the Macao SAR entered into immediate prevention stage. All entities of civil protection structure reported to Civil Protection Operations Centre and adopted proper measures. The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, presided over a work meeting at the Civil Protection Operations Centre and listened to the briefing regarding the civil protection structure in response to the passage of the super typhoon. He also directed all entities to cooperate fully in the implementation of the civil protection contingency plan, so as to prioritize safeguarding the lives and properties of Macao residents.



Opening arrangement of sports facilities after typhoon “Yagi”

After inspection of the impact of tropical cyclone “Yagi”, most of the sports facilities under Sports Bureau were opened to the public today (September 6) at 3:30 pm while four outdoor swimming pools (Dr. Sun Yat Sen Swimming Pool, Taipa Central Park Swimming Pool, Hac Sa Park Swimming Pool and Cheoc Van Swimming Pool) is undergoing cleaning works. Sports Bureau will strive to reopen these facilities soonest as possible and make relevant announcement in due course.

Residential property price index for May – July 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for May - July 2024 decreased by 1.1% over the previous period (April - June 2024) to 216.4. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (213.5) and Taipa & Coloane (227.8) fell by 1.0% and 1.6% respectively.


Results of gaming sector survey 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the number of enterprises engaged in gaming activities stayed at 9 in 2023, 6 of which were gaming concessionaires and 3 were engaged in pari-mutuels and lotteries.


Termination of immediate prevention stage

In accordance with the Chief Executive Dispatch, pursuant to Item 1 of Article 9 of Law No. 11/2020 (Civil Protection Law), the immediate prevention stage is terminated as of 14h00 on 6 September 2024.

Health services arrangements after downgrade of Typhoon Signal No. 8

The Health Bureau announces that after the lowering of Typhoon Signal No. 8, all entrances to the Conde de São Januário General Hospital will reopen to the public. The Accident and Emergency Department (including the Island Emergency Station), Inpatient Service, and the Haemodialysis Unit will also resume normal operation.
