Two Seminars to be Held at Macao Museum in mid-April
Two seminars, organized by the Macao Museum of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held at Macao Museum Auditorium on April 16th (Saturday) and 17th (Sunday) from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. These seminars are free and open to all interested. However, seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. For registration, please contact Mr. Sio at 8394 1233. Macao Museum is very honored to have Mr. Zheng Xinmiao, Director of the Palace Museum in Beijing, to be the guest speaker for the seminars. Mr. Zheng has held numerous seminars on the topics of “Studies of the Imperial Palace” and Palace Museum over the years. During his visit to Taiwan in 2009, he lectured at the National Chengchi University on the same topics, receiving overwhelming response from the teachers and students. By illustrating seminars with rich and colorful images and movie clips, Mr. Zheng shows his mastery in telling the stories happening at the Imperial Palace in Beijing, taking the audience through the world of “Studies of the Imperial Palace.” This series of seminars is divided into two main topics. One is “Imperial Palace Protection and Museum Construction,” focusing on the relation between “Imperial Palace Protection” and “Museum Construction” and aiming to provide a better understanding for the public on the repair of the Palace as well as the arrangements of sorting out cultural relics, holding exhibitions and carrying out exchange programs; another one is “Museum and Intangible Cultural Heritage,” introducing the preservation of intangible cultural heritage at home and aboard, combining with the theme of this year's International Museum Day “Museum and Memory.” Besides, the expansion of museum's functions will also be discussed on the basis of comparing the museums in Macao to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. This activity is held with the purposes of not only enhancing the public's knowledge of the Imperial Palace and Palace Museum, but also promoting and improving their awareness of cultural relic preservation. Seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Act immediately if interested. Further information is now available on Macao Museum's website www.macaumuseum.gov.mo.
